Bring on Barbados

It's almost the end of the first month of 2015, which is pretty crazy when you think about it! This January 31st finds me in the 30-something degree Caribbean climate of Barbados! I have been here since January 6th (almost a month now!) and am now in my third week of classes at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. It is such a beautiful little island, with a large population of kind and helping Barbadians (aka Bajans).
We are staying in a cute little apartment in Prospect, St. James, and have less than a 2 minute walk down to the beach. I can hear the sound of the ocean waves from my room, especially at night, when the traffic isn't so loud. There is a Jordan's Supermarket 2 minutes down the road, just after the Glad Tidings Gospel Hall where we attend church each week. The university is a hot, 20 minute walk (uphill though, unfortunately...) so we get our exercise in, that's for sure!
Anyway, that's just some of the basic details of my setup down here! I have been working on a new website/blog that will be my main blog in the upcoming months while I'm abroad. Check out the link below for more Barbados news.

Island Life

It's been a great summer this year for camping. Our family has gone at least 3 times so far, for a week or so each time. It's hard to beat that feeling, when you sit outside with a book and just  relax away from the lengthy "to do" list and all the hustle and bustle that home life can bring.
My favourite place to camp is Twin Shores, a friendly campground located on the north shore of Prince Edward Island, hugging the Darnley Basin. There are always kids coming and going, riding bikes along the roadways, or making sandcastles on the red shores of the beach. The laid-back environment is rejuvenating.
Here are a few pictures from our Twin Shores visit!

Nathan & Brittany: Wedding Preview

It's the summer of weddings for me this year! Seven weddings booked in a period of a few months, leaves you in a bit of a head-spin trying to keep them all straight! I'm always amazed however, at each wedding, at the beauty and effort put in to make the day what it is. There are some fantastic wedding planners out there, that's for sure!
Nathan & Brittany Kember were the first happy couple that I had the privilege of filming on their special day. Without further ado, here is the sneak peek of their breath-taking wedding day!

Home for a Visit

Took a quick trip home last weekend before the cramming for exam week started. I had a list all made up of all the tasks I wanted to accomplish in the short time. Among the many tasks were Baking and Christmas decorating. I tackled the baking soon after I woke up, and finished around lunch time, baking some pretty ordinary stuff such as rice crispy squares, butterscotch confetti squares, peanut butter cookies, and oatmeal banana muffins.  I was quite full by the time I left the kitchen a few hours later, but I trekked up to the attic to get the age-old Christmas decor. By this time I was running low on enthusiasm, but I turned up the Christmas tunes and set to work! In the evening we had our annual Sunday School Treat which went really well, and it was great to see everyone again, along with great pizza and my Grandmother's delicious fudge!
