My Ride

Its a phase that mostly all teenagers go through, at one point or another- LICENSE TIME! And with the anticipation of getting their license comes the urge for a vehicle of their very own. Well, I've hit that stage, not surprisingly, since I'm basically the only one out of at least 7 of my friends who can't even get my beginners yet. Sigh. BUT, I've made a resolution, NOT to wish my life away. Until I get my license, I will just keep jogging. Anyways, today dad went down to Charlottetown to pick up a smashed Honda Fit, that will hopefully be my car in approx. 1 year, 1 month and 8 days! Here's a picture of my baby. :P

PEI Conference

At 6:00 Friday evening, we showed up at the Summerside Wellness Centre volleyball courts. I was wearing my polka dots and stripes, as the dress code implied, which looked rather foolish, as we were the only ones there for about 15 minutes. The Kembers started to arrive, and by 7:00 most of the people were there. We played some volleyball, capture the flag and other activities, as well as had some bbq food. I stayed down at my gracious uncle Chris and Aunt Rachel's house that night, and I also stayed there Saturday and Sunday night. It was a cool day Saturday, contrasting the previous few days. I actually got a sunburn from sitting outside all day Thursday. There were lots of preachers present at the conference, Jim Allen, John Meekin, Howard Barnes, Murray McCandless, David Swan and a few more I can't think of at the moment. They had some good messages. On Sunday I had the pleasure of being the humble servant, along with Deborah Arsenault, on table 6, for lunch and supper.
I woke up ready for some serious paint-balling Monday morning! I hitched a ride to Spike's Paintballing, where an army of trigger-happy troops were ready for battle. By the end of the morning, I was at the height of war, suffering 3 welts of small proportion. I must say I would have been happier with a few more welts. Oh well, there's always next time.We had to do a speedy pit-stop after paintballing, then make our way to the Brookvale lodge, once again, for more food and activities. The "Amazing Grace" (parody of "The Amazing Race" for those of you who aren't familiar) was one such activity. Shoes were thrown, and divided to make groups of 4 or 5 people. We then had to go from station to station completing each task in as fast a time possible. It was a good time, I must say. Everyone started to leave around 5:00, so we did too. I got a ride home with my good friend Ruth. We stopped in at Cold Stone Creamery for some icecream, my first time getting anything there! It was delish!

Was That the Sun?

I've got great news! The sun is shining! Its been a long old spell of rainy, damp weather here in the maritimes, but today, finally, it cleared up for a while! Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice warm day too. It makes everything so much better when the sun is shining. It makes me think of us as Christians."You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden." Matthew 5:14. If we go around gloomy and unhappy, not letting our lights shine, we will become more miserable, and so will those around us. But, if we let our lights shine forth, telling others what Christ has done by dying for our sins on the cross, we will be happy in the joy of God's Salvation. "The heaven's declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork." Psalms 19:1

Toronto Missionary Conference

Five missionaries spoke at the conference this weekend. Marcus Cain on Mexico, David Booth on Russia, David Jones on Chile, Tom Matthews on Brazil, and Earl Ritchie on China and South Korea. It was very interesting and eye-opening to hear them tell about the work going on in their part of the world.  The food was also good, my favorite being the special recipe of chicken dish for dinner on Sunday.
When we were finished our supper Sunday evening, we left the Hall, almost ready to hit the road for home. We had one last outing to go to- Demitri's. This place was awesome, it had a huge selection, almost too big, of crepes, milkshakes, ice cream cones, etc. etc. It took us a while, but we finally made up our minds of what to order. I got the frozen Hot Chocolate, and it was excellent! It kept me content on the 13 hour drive back home that night. We arrived in Sussex at around 11:30 AM, and dropped Reuben and Emily off at their houses. The rest of us then piled into the green Toyota and once again, resumed our riding positions. By 2:30 or so the tires of the car hit the red dirt, and we were home. It was a great weekend, I don't remember ever laughing so much! I won't have to count many sheep tonight!
