Monday, February 21st

Monday
I woke up today at the nice time of 7:30, as our aim was to leave the house by 8:30. We actually left the house a little before, because we were all ready and were just walking around the house looking at each other. The first stop was to the golden arches, located 2 minutes from the house, for breakfast. We each got a variation of a McMuffin, then off we went to make our way to the famous Table Mountain. Table Mountain can be seen from mostly everywhere in the city, and it looks basically like a table with its flat mountain top, hence its name. We finally won the battle with traffic, and made it to the base of this monstrosity. We parked the Condor by the side of the road and walked up to the ticket purchasing place for the lift to the top. Children under 18 got in for a cheaper price, which I'm entitled to, but I had a bit of trouble convincing the lady at the till that I was. For a Monday morning the place was pretty hopping busy. Going up the lifts was a bit of a tight squeeze, with about  50 people or so piled in. The speed of the lift was 10 meters per second, so before long we were on the top of Table Mountain, looking down over the fabulous city of Cape Town. It was a super day for the view of the city, because the clouds known as the "Table Cloth" that often cover Table Mountain like a table cloth, didn't limit our view. As Elaine and I raced to keep up to the boys the whole time, we managed to snap some thrilling pictures. One thing we noticed on the mountain was that there was a respectably large number of people from North America (we could tell by the accents) or the U.S. at least. We spent a good amount of time walking around the mountain top, drinking in the incredible view. When we got back down to lower heights, and into the car, we headed to the waterfront for some chow. Mugg & Bean was the restaurant of choice, where we sat outside in the breeze and ordered our lunch. I got a strawberry milkshake to go with my waffles topped with fried bananas and toffee sauce. Talk about a good lunch! When we had well eaten, back to the house we went. Mark stayed there, while Elaine, Caleb and I headed for the beach. Now all we wanted was a nice relaxing time, laying on the sand, soaking up the sun. Instead we got 30 km winds and a faceful of sand. Needless to say, we only stayed for about 20 minutes, and the reason we endured it for that long was because of the wind surfers who kept us entertained. We stopped at Woolworths, a 2 minute drive from the house, to get some food for our stay. At 6:30 we got all ready and headed out to Stellenbosh to go to the much anticipated Moyo's! Elaine had told me so much about this restaurant, so I was really excited to go! It took us about an hour to get there by the time we fought the traffic, and got out into the country where it is. You have to make a reservation for this place, and ours was booked for 7:30. Moyo's is not close to your typical restaurant. Its all basically outside, with tree-fort places to eat up in, tables outside under trees, and there's also big tent. In the tents is where the buffet is located. On the far wall of the tent, is 8 different buffet stations running lengthwise across the tent. There was a chicken grill, venison grill, fish grill, starch station, vegetable station, some other station with a weird name that I couldn't pronounce, salad station and desserts. It was like paradise! When we sat down, a girl came around with white face paint. She started by painting Elaine's face, then moved on to Caleb, who surprisingly refused. Mark also refused, and finally she painted my face. We ordered our drinks, then went for round 1. Everything is fresh and cooked right in front of you, which is neat to see. When we filled our plates, we sat down to eat. Caleb gave Elaine a piece of meat and told her it was good and she had to try it. He wouldn't tell her what it was, but she ate it anyway, thinking it was quite good. He then informed her she had just eaten Calamari, aka squid. When it came time for round 2, made sure to get some myself, and it was really good. After a bit, Elaine and I took a break to go for a little tour of the place, then came back for some dessert. There was pecan pie (awesome), squares, lemon pie, apple crumble, chocolate pudding cake, ice cream sauces and possibly other things. The Condor was loaded down a bit more when we pulled out to head back to the house. We were all stuffed to the core. Moyo's is definitely a place I'd love to revisit in the future!

Conquering the top of Table Mountain.

What a gorgeous sight... the view I mean :)

Love this picture of Elaine!

It was so awesome seeing the wind surfers! Some would even get like 30 feet of air!  CRAZY!This would be next on my list of things to try.
I love Cape Town!
