 Tuesday

Our arousal time this morning wasn't until 8:30, because Mark had gone out for breakfast with Rodney Brown, and wouldn't be back until 9:30. When 9:30 rolled around, I was all ready to go. By 10:00 there was still no Mark, and we were starting to wonder, since he's usually always on time. He texted us to say he'd be longer than he'd planned, and that he'd be back by 12:00 or so. Cabin fever was starting to set in, so me and Caleb set out for the 5 minute walk to the little mall. We went into the bookstore for a minute, and when we came out, we passed by Roman's Pizza. We decided to take a peak inside to see what it was like. We ended up getting 3 little pizzas for us all for lunch. One kind was a spicy pepperoni, another was bacon with the works and the last one we decided to try Banana and bacon. I actually think I like the Bacon and Banana the most, it was really good! Mark was back by the time we got back, and we all had a bite to eat. We hit the road soon after to go for a drive around the peninsula. It was a beautiful drive, all along the twists and turns of the coastline. Covering the area of the tip is a National Park, that you pay to get in. You drive on a twisty road, looking out at Newfoundland-like terrain. Finally, after passing countless "Do not feed baboons" signs, you come to an area filled with cars. Straight ahead a lighthouse can be seen faintly through the heavy clouds, as well as a beach to the right.  At the very tip of South Africa, is the place where 2 oceans meet, the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. You can actually see sort of a line, as the waves roll in from opposite directions! We all made the trek up the mountain path, stopping to rest on a couple occasions. There were some lookouts at the top, but visibility was poor because of the heavy clouds. We climbed a little more to get to the lighthouse, which I must say was no big sight, but at least you could see more of the water below. As we were making our way down, poor dear Elaine took a tumble on some rough stairs. down she went in such a fashion that we were surprised she didn't break something. She put a good little scrape on her foot, as well as some bruising on her shins, but other than that, she was ok! Mark, Caleb and I continued our journey down the path to the beach, while Elaine went to the shop. It was a nice little walk down to the beach, lovely view of white sand, white rock cliffs and blue ocean. We sat down to enjoy the view for a while, before remembering Elaine was waiting for us. We left the park and continued our coastal drive. One of the places we passed was a rich, like REALLY rich area, where Oprah and Madonna have houses. My favourite place from the whole drive, I would have to say was Hout Bay. It was totally breathtaking as you rounded the sides of the mountain road, and finally laid your eyes on the bay. We spent some time taking in the sight, then drove a bit further and spent some time on the beach. When we got back into Cape Town, we went to the boardwalk for some supper. We ended up walking around a little before going for a sub at Subway. When it started to get dark, we left the waterfront and headed for a night-time view of Cape Town, from the top of Signal Hill. It was such a beautiful view, just as good, if not better than the daytime view!  We all had a great day of sightseeing!

Yummy!

Boardwalk down to the beach.

Almost to Hout Bay! What an amazing place!

Some baboons grooming themselves right in the middle of the road!

Hout Bay. Spedo dude was in every picture. Thanks a lot man.

Elaine took this cool picture at the little square outside the mall at the waterfront.
Cape Town is absolutely stunning at night! This is the view from Signal Hill.
